PHILIP BARCLAY

Director


Philip has worked in the finance industry for over 25 years, with particular expertise in traditional and structured finance. Originally from Melbourne, he commenced his career in property and financial services, before moving to Sydney where he set-up his own brokerage group. Philip established Translease Pty Ltd with Bill Murfitt in 2000, and was instrumental in the establishment of Global Rental and Leasing Pty Ltd in 2006.

JOHN KAKAVOULES

Director


John joined Translease in 2011 as Associate Director responsible for the company’s Melbourne operations. Since that time, he’s established a large client base in the transport industry, servicing major fleet operators, SMEs and owner operators. John boasts over 25 years experience in the finance and leasing industry, having previously held senior management positions with Hertz Australia, Esanda Finance, Mercedes Benz Finance, and the ANZ Bank. He achieved Associate Membership in the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants in 1990, Senior Associate Membership in the Australian Institute of Bankers in 1994, and has also been a CAFBA member since 2011. John holds a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University, with majors in Economics, Accounting and Banking & Finance.

BILL MURFITT

Director


With over 25 years experience in the equipment finance sector, Bill brings substantial knowledge and expertise to his role as Director of Translease. This includes more than a decade at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia in senior lending and managerial roles. Bill established Translease Pty Ltd with Philip Barclay in 2000, and helped expand the business into the rental and operating lease market with the establishment of Global Rental and Leasing Pty Ltd in 2006 – an entity that’s written in excess of $1 billion general finance business.

WENDY BROWN

Asset Finance Broker
 


Wendy joined Translease in 2015 and brings over 22 years of experience in the finance industry, with deep expertise in asset finance broking and banking. She specialises in securing tailored funding solutions for heavy machinery, earthmoving equipment, and commercial vehicles, supporting clients across a broad range of industries including construction, demolition, civil contracting, earthmoving, forestry, agriculture, crane hire, and transport.

 

Throughout her career, Wendy has earned recognition from numerous financiers for her outstanding performance, having been nominated multiple times for Broker of the Year. She has built her reputation on reliability, deep industry expertise, and a client-first mindset — partnering with business owners to deliver smart, strategic financial solutions that drive long-term growth and success.

 

Wendy holds a Diploma in Finance and Mortgage Broking and is an active member of TradieWives, Australia’s largest and most engaged community for women in the trades industry.

ANNA GRANT

Team Leader Operations (TLO)


Anna has worked in the finance industry for over 20 years and joined Translease in 2012 as Team Leader Operations overseeing back office functions for the Melbourne office. Prior to joining Translease, she worked at NAB, ANZ, CUA, MBFS and Collins Finance in a variety of roles, including Credit Analyst for Consumer Lending, Relationship Executive and Operations Manager. Anna was part of the Accelerated Growth Program for Management at NAB, and was one of only four people selected out of 1,500 applicants to join ANZ’s Graduate Program. Anna holds a Bachelor of Business from Monash University, with a major in Banking & Finance, as well as a Teaching Degree.

CHANEL VACCARI

Asset Finance Broker


Chanel joined Translease in 2015 as Credit Analyst and support role for Philip Barclay. Prior to this role she worked at Macquarie Bank in the leasing division in a variety of roles including customer service, settlements, and collections. This invaluable knowledge has assisted Chanel with inside knowledge on how the leasing department works within a bank. Chanel has now extended her role and is an Asset Finance Broker at Translease. She looks after clients in the Illawarra Region and beyond. Her focus is on exceptional customer service and supporting small to large companies finance vehicles and equipment for their business at the best possible rate available. Chanel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Finance from Wollongong University and is a member of the Illawarra Women in business.

A Chattel Mortgage is a commercial finance product that enables a customer to take ownership of an asset (usually a vehicle) at the time of purchase.

A Commercial Hire Purchase (CHP) is where a customer hires a vehicle from a financier for a fixed monthly repayment over a set period of time.

A consumer loan is a contract between a financier and an individual whereby the financier finances a vehicle for the individual’s personal use.

A Finance Lease is where a customer has use of an asset and enjoys the benefits of ownership, yet the financier still retains ownership of the asset.

Insurance Premium Funding is designed for corporate clients with a large insurance premium. It enables this premium to be funded over an extended period of time (usually 10-12 months).

A Novated Lease is the most common way of salary packaging a vehicle. An employee leases a vehicle and their employer pays the monthly lease rentals from the employee’s pre-tax income.

An Operating Lease is a contract whereby an owner (Lessor) lets a user (Lessee) use an asset for a set period of time in return for regular payments.
